About Us
At Accel Fitness, we create a comfortable, inexpensive
environment for members to work out and reach their
health goals. We believe people want to lead healthier,
more fulfilling lives but the rising cost of gym
memberships, coupled with the demands of raising
families and holding down jobs has hindered most
people’s progress. Accel Fitness’ approach to fitness is
both accommodating and affordable for just about anyone.
Accel Fitness will revolutionize the Des Moines fitness
industry by offering month-to-month memberships, top of
the line fitness equipment, a family oriented friendly
environment and an immaculately clean facility to create
a premier value in an already burgeoning industry.
Marc Thoma
My name is Marc Thoma, Owner of Accel Fitness. I
graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in
Physical Education. I am the second oldest of six
children, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Growing up I always
had a great love for sports and physical activity. I
started in the fitness industry as a personal trainer
with the eventual dream of owning/operating my own
fitness center. Opening the Ankeny location brought this
dream to a reality and we haven’t looked back since.
Rob Evans
My name is Rob Evans and I’m Owner / Operator of the
West Des Moines Accel Fitness. I come from a family of 5
children and grew up in Chicago. I have 1 brother, 3
sisters and I’m the middle child. Growing up, I played
every sport imaginable, from baseball to hockey and
loved every minute of it. After graduating from Eastern
Illinois University in 1998, I opened an environmental
consulting firm in the western suburbs of Chicago. After
several years in the environmental industry, my cousin,
John, asked me to help with a few of his gyms. I agreed
and immediately fell in love. For the past 4 years I
have been working with John in the fitness industry.
After a short stint in Indianapolis, I decided to
partner up with Marc Thoma and open gyms in the Des
Moines area. We opened Ankeny first and West Des Moines
second. My favorite thing about the area is that Des
Moines is small enough to care yet large enough to
matter.
Jaycie Curry
My name is Jaycie Curry, General Manager of the Ankeny
location. I recently graduated from Iowa State
University in 2006 with a Degree in Apparel, Educational
Studies and Hospitality Management and a Minor in
Entrepreneurial Studies. Growing up in near by Humboldt,
IA, I moved to Ankeny after spending the previous five
years in Ames, IA. I have always enjoyed being active,
helping others and most importantly having a close
relationship with my family. I have always had a passion
for health and fitness and love to see the positive
impact a healthy lifestyle can make in people’s lives.
It is this passion that serves as my main motivation for
my career in the fitness industry. Overall, I feel very
fortunate to have a career that allows to me combine my
love for health and fitness and my desire to help
motivate others every day. |
